The Gran Teatre del Liceu

This magnificent theatre is Barcelona’s Temple of Opera, and its most prestigious theatre. It is located in the heart of the city, on its most popular thoroughfare: the Rambla.

The theatre was completely remodelled, modernised and expanded after the fire of 31 January 1994. It was reopened in 1999. The historic decor of the concert hall was respected, and its antique appearance was preserved and improved. The Espai Liceu

The Espai Liceu is a cultural and commercial area within the Liceu where the visitors to the opera house may freely intermingle with passers-by on the Rambla. It includes the following services: cafeteria, shop and the starting point for guided visits of the building, screening room (operas, presentations, etc.) and ticket offices.

Visit the Liceu’s public areas

It is possible to visit the Liceu’s most characteristic areas on any given day: the concert hall, the Saló dels Miralls and the foyer. The guided tour includes a visit to the Cercle del Liceu, the private club that shares the building with the Opera House. The club is a magnificent example of Modernisme and contains exceptional paintings —including a collection of works by Ramon Casas— and decorative artwork.

Guided tourss are also offered tof the stage and other Liceu service areas. These include a one and a half hour-long tour of the stage, rehearsal rooms, wardrobe, make-up room, dressing rooms and other service areas.
